Squeaky engine

Quick question - does anyone's engine squeak when its cold? I get this squeak like its on one part of the belt so its sort of a squeak squeak squeak instead of a solid squeak, if that makes sense?

Is that just cold belts and everyone's does it?!

Just read your thread and it sounds very similar

Spoke to the tech guy at LR battersea, and they have hear it before, said LR have issued a fix on the pulley and belts. Its not a recall though so not sure what that means, guess it means some develop the fault, and they fix

Mines having some more work done in jan where they will look at it. Will let you know

If LR have a 'fix' but are not recalling cars, it means they only use the fix if the customer complains about the problem.

You complained, so they are applying the fix. Someone else takes their car in for a service and the technician notices the squeeking noise, but the customer hasn't complained about it, then they don't apply the 'fix'. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Sometimes its the drive pulleys or idler pulley that develope flats spots on them and the belt squeaks as it passes the flat spot.
All manufacturers have had it in the last few years with the new type of drive belt design
Open the bonnet and be really vigurous and wastefull with the talcolm powder tin, all over the belt with as much as you can get on it, Johnsons baby powder is one of the best. Then start the engine and see if it clears.
The talc powder lubricates the belt temporarely curing the noise and proves this is the cause. You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.
