I run Pirelli Scorpion Sow & Ice 275/45/20 on 20" 10 spoke original rims. The Pirelli tyres are very good on dry snow, but not very good when the snow gets wet, and I also find them very slippery on ice. However, I'm not sure if any other tyre performs better in such conditions.

Ersa, there's a problem if you have Brembos - 19" is the smallest wheel that you can use from Land Rover, Compomotive do a special 18" wheel for the Bowler Nemisis that will also fit as it was specifically developed to fit Brembo equipped Nemisis which is loosely based on the RRS S/C 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim, I know the Brembos limit the possibility to choose 19" for the winter tyres. In any case, safe driving on a slippery surface is solely the drivers responsebility.

Drove over Dunmail Raise in The Lakes yesterday in about 3 inches of slush. My car (on Pirrelli Scorpion Ice & Snow 19" tyres) felt completely comfortable and drama free, which was anything but the case for some other cars who were definitely "struggling". I later learnt that there was a very nasty looking crash on that stretch of road where it appeared that a car had lost control and crossed into the path of a car coming in the other directon. Pirelli Scorpion are superb, in my opinion. They give off more road noise in the wet, as does any snow tyre. Living here, in Bavaria and commuting to Austria on a weekly basis (often using the untreated "B" roads as they are quieter and more fun) I can assure you that the tyres have been nothing short of superb. They are particularly excellent on the roads that are higher up in the Alps and it is great going past signposts saying no vehicles unless with snow chains or 4wd.

If they are good enough for the alps and southern germany then they are well up to the job of the 5cm of snow a year the UK gets! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
