2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

It sounds like Donagh has a P38 Range Rover not an L322 (what we call the FFRR) or a Sport. He has to move the selector across an "H" shaped selector box on the transmission tunnel. and there is also a Sport button.
Donagh, there are folks here who owned the P38 but I am not one of them! I would suggest that you have join the USA Range Rover Forums over on www.rangerovers.net and specifically the section for Range Rovers built between 1995 and 2002 here http://rangerovers.net/forum/viewforum.php...3c1f5dcbfb

The other source of info would be the technical forums over on the The Range Rover Register http://www.rrr.co.uk/

or even ask over on our sister site http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum where a few of the guys also had P38's

BTW if you only used the Low ratio box with Diff lock on deep snow then you should not have done any damage to it but if you drove clear roads with the Low Box and Diff Lock engaged you will have got some mighty weird bangs and crashes from underneath as the transmision wound up (due to the diff lock locking the diffs and wheel rotation speeds on curves/ bends being different at speed) and then it will have been unwinding with the bang and may have damaged it. Locking the diff is only ever used on very slippery surfaces or offroad when the windup will disipate as wheelspin that you will not notice. If you want to use Low in snow then you must put the box back into unlocked diffs mode on hard surfaces. You can use low ratio on roads with thin snow snow, but not diff locked low if there is any chance the wheels will being driving on the tar 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

Something on the Mode switch from an older P38:

MODE SWITCH
In High range, the mode switch is used to select ’Sport’ mode.
In Low range, pressing the same switch selects ’Manual’ mode.
Pressing the switch a second time returns the gearbox to its normal operation.

’Sport’ mode
When accelerating in ’Sport’ mode, gear changing is delayed to make optimum use of the engine’s power. Select when increased acceleration is required, or when negotiating long inclines or twisting roads. However, you should be aware that driving in ’Sport’ mode will increase fuel consumption.
To select ’Sport’ mode, press the ’Mode’ switch once whilst the gearbox is in High
range (the message centre will display ’S’ along with the selected gear, eg.’S3’).

’Manual’ mode
Press the mode switch whilst the gearbox is in Low range to select ’Manual’ mode; this enables the transmission to function as a manual gearbox, providing maximum vehicle control and engine braking - ideal for use in severe off-road conditions (the message centre displays ’LM’ along with the selected gear, eg.’LM3’).

NOTE: Changing from High to Low range (or vice versa) will automatically cancel ’Sport’ or ’Manual’ mode. Malaysia Boleh!
