Anyone suffered this? Low speed brake squeal when pulling up or negotiating car park, its intermittent (like its only one bit of the disk(s)).

When I test drove it it was there, but the dealer said he would fix. Low and behold, a few miles down the road it was the same. Nothing crazy, could probably live with it, but why should I.

Its with LR at the moment getting its first service and put it on the dash for them to review, but doubt they will as the sales guy was talking about doing it themselves again (probably the thickest sales person I've ever dealt with, speaks terrible English and Spanish so theres something lost in translation there). Just Picked up: 2006 RRS S/C, java with Ivory.

It is a fairly common thing, usually caused by the parking brake not disengaging fully. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

ahhhh. Anything to cure it?

God, now Im worried I've got some dodgy spanish mechanic taking the brakes apart. He'll probably cover them in oil to get rid of it... Just Picked up: 2006 RRS S/C, java with Ivory.

It maybe the wire that operates the system has stretched a little and the self adjustment on the winch isn't taking it up so the pads are binding slightly.

BTW Spanin doesn't have a monopoly on dodgy mechanics.............................. if you read what some folks say in the dealer comments LR still have a few left here in the UK, they haven't exported them all yet! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

yep. same problem. dealer fixed it, squel came back after a few hours again. still looking for quick fix RRS SC Bonatti Grey

Quick fix is to buy a new RRS! Probably not the fix you were looking for! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Hmmm. Well, suppose its not all bad but it is bleedin' annoying on a 40+k motor. Bit embarrassing in car parks too. If our knackered old renault clio doesn't do it, why should this.

If it helps, I have the same problem.

Dealer has looked at it, and said its from being left on the park brake too long. One option is to smooth the disc out, but the option they are giving me is new rear disks FOC.

It should have been picked up in the 1million point check (sounds like your post suggests it has). If their fix didnt fix it, then new disks should be strongly pushed for i reckon?

Hey, didn't say i liked the excuse, just the outcome of new breaks!

But true - it was in the showroom, and cant imagine it had been left unmoved for all that long. Certainly no more than an average person may not use their car (mine is often untouched for sveral days in the week)

I seem to vaguely remember hearing that there had been some mods to the EPB to stop this from happening on more recent models.... rear pads FOC seems like a good deal, although if the issue is in the EPB rather than the rear pads themselves then that won't necessarily remove the problem.

Just picked it back up rather than let 'pedro' take the brakes apart. Suppose i can live with it.

I remember I was in the UK when I test drove one. I noticed it was on access height in the showroom, he told me they do that to conserve the battery as normal height slowly drains it... anyone heard that one before? Just Picked up: 2006 RRS S/C, java with Ivory.
