Does anyone know if this is possible? The TDV8 would solve a lot of problems for me but the issue I have is the cost of the vehicle once the mileage (25k per annum) is factored in to the deal which brings the cost over the north side of £1k per month as far as I can tell. Taking car allowances out of the equation means that the car becomes hard to justify and is more of a luxury than a genuine problem solver.

Oh no I haven't - said in best pantomime traditions! Seriously, its only a vague enquiry at this stage as I've still a couple of years to run on my current stead so I wouldn't want to waste anybody's time but looking at online quotes it would appear a figure of circa £1100 is required to run one on my mileage. Question is - am I ready to give up my hooligan cars for something steadier but infinitely more practical or should I be even more sensible and get a really steady eddy wagon and chuck the rest into the AVC? www.tiovicente.com |

Where's the fun in AVCs? I'd go the hooligan cars route anyday!

Enjoy your money while you have it, if you shove it into an AVC then the only people who will enjoy it will be investment portfolio managers when they take their bonuses and salaries out of it. So live dangerously and spoil their day! Anyway aren't Gordie Brown and his pal Big Al going to look after us all in our retirement.................................. If you shove it into an AVC the govt can only tax it more, if you have enjoyed spending it then what extra tax can they take off it once you've spent it? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yeah, yeah, I know - live the dream and all that. The idea behind the AVC is so I can retire early and spend my twilight years playing with my Bowler in the south of Spain without having to worry too much about replacing parts as I'm skint. There again, the idea behind the RRS is so that I can travel to the south of Spain and take my dog with me - plus the wife but the hound takes precedence.
