A friend of mine gets 24/25mpg combined out of his TDV8 and he has a heavy foot. I average around 25/26.

With TDV8 can easily achive 30 to 32mpg keeping to speed limits, it is slightly more economical at 70 than 60 as at 60 it is in the band where it wants to change down to 5th gear.
Now with the MT/R tyres on it has hit the consumption badly and I'm only getting 24mpg cruising at 80ish Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Only way to get actual is to reset the average and then read what the average states 1st. That will be actual.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

After refuelling (at £1.089pp!) and resetting the average readout in Coventry this morning and then having to drive through the school run traffic which was very nicely down hill from the filling station to the motorway the trip was showing an average of 65.9mpg for the first couple of miles Mr. Green As soon as I got onto the M6 though it settled down to 32-33mpg until I started the long climb up towards Shap and that knocked it back to 27.9. Have just refuelled (at £1.029ppl!) at Stirling having run 326 miles between brims and the calculated by excel average has worked out at
27.7mpg and the cars's trip computer before resetting again had an average speed for the run of 66.7mph.
Interestingly when I worked out the fuel for the run Stirling to Coventry I averaged 23.6mph over exactly the same distance but with a trip average apeed of 78.3mph......................... mainly due to a strong head wind and an hour running "quite" fast in comapny with an HST, S/C and a FFRR S/C between Manchester and the junction where the M6 divides to the toll road.

No snow left at the hotel this morning either................ when I looked out the window just before Top Gear started last evening there was a good 1.5" of the white stuff lying in the car parkand it was still snowing. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks guys. At least I'm not way off on my assumptions. Biggest ruin will be if petrol prices go way north, but don't think I'll be in too much trouble unless they go up another 30p a litre, which hopefully won't happen for a while!

I did testdrive the TDV8 when I was looking at PCPing (they're still just a tad out of my price range cash-wise). It drove really nicely and with a fair bit of abuse still returned 24.9mpg over the hour long testdrive. I loved the sound of it from inside - the V8 burble has been really well engineered so that there's no diesel clatter once its warm.

If I was being sensible and had the money for one, I'd do it. But seeing as I don't and I'm not - S/C it is!! Very Happy RRS S/C wannabe owner!

There's almost no diesel clatter when it's cold as well and what there is is almost drowned out by the FBH on a cold morning, this is one diesel the neghbours cannot make comments about Hamburg taxis about! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

I just got my SC a week ago and love it to bits and made same decision as you. For equal power the V8 was 14k more for same spec and it has 100kg more n the nose with that engine so handling on sc is better if you really push it

fuel - well it does drink and i have got 12 most of time down lanes but this morning i drove at 70mph as not in rush and was amazed to get 22 to 23 on motorway!

I have Khan exhaust and i wonder if that is damaging fuel consumption somehow! anyone else had these concerns? Andy J
