So ........ where have I been and what have I been up to ?

Not been on here much lately,

I guess I have felt a bit pi Censored ed off having recently tested the market for selling my fighterbomber. It is in mint conditon - Sept 55 with only 16,500 miles on it. . . . . you know the rest ! .... I have been offered, generally, around the £35k mark - I guess they must think i'm a charity Shocked

However, moving on .... Over the last few weeks I have tested a number of cars & must say - the RRS S/C is still hard to beat Exclamation

I have been out in the new FL2 = YUK , firstly it still sounded like a tractor and I had the XS version - trim/ fit/quality was still not satisfactory. As for the poxy START button - what the hell is LR thinkink - its pathetic and annoying..... . you are better off with a traditional key ! [ if your going to do this - take a leaf out of audi's book ]

Next up...A few A6 Avants..... fisrt of all the 2.7d - surprisingly I found this extremely quiet [ compared to LR FL2 ] , seriously .... it doesnt sound like a diesel at all Shocked It was pretty brisk too.

Next up the 3.0 .... quicker than my Supercharged !!!!! Evil or Very Mad and it does 30mpg around town.

Next up Q7 3.0tdi -- Censored its a boat - no its a ship ... no its a hotel. This thing is enourmous and despite this it still returned 25mpg around town Shocked BUT .... the overall impression was poor as the engine in this is not the same as in the A6 AVANT...... it just didnt do it for me ... noisy compared to the A6 version & without paying for the plethora of extras ... it felt ....... empty .. if you know what I mean Confused

I am awaiting a call - to take out a "fully loaded " 4.2 Sline Q7..... will report back when done asap.

OK...... I was in London this weekend & ventured in to Stratstones as I always do when in Mayfair. Interesting , as I only went into check out the interior of the 08 RRS.... but ended up sniffing around the FFRR s/c at the back of the showroom - and yet again Mrs MDP and Jnr MDP both said... " can we have this " Big Cry

After a long chat.... [ and no sale ] .. I was offered several deals. Interesting one was this........

They have had as a group buy from LR - the last of the old spec [ 06 model year ] FFRR 4.4 Vogue SE's fully loaded with DVD screens, sunroof, reverse camera, 20" wheels etc etc etc. , they have been pre registered as an 07, but Zero miles. He thinks they have now all gone, but is checking and will call me back ..... now the price you ask.... they were selling these at £49k

So, what do you all think ????????

If there are any left - I will be comparing this against the fully loaded 4.2q Q7 - which too is @ £49k

I have a couple of questions to ask of the FFRR experts out there....

1. What was the original list price for this car?
2. Have I got all the options fitted for this car?
3. Is it a good price/buy ?

and on a final note, even though I believe I have a 1st class RRS S/C that normally leaves a smile on my face when I floor it... I was left wiping the smile off on Sunday Sad Coming home from visiting Cadbury World I was booting it up the M6...... I mean really booting it ! Behind me was a black Porsche Pig .... he had been trailing behind me for a while... untill I came to the 4 lane section going up the hill heading towards junction 3. He was always only a few meters behind...... now i'm foot full to the floor... stamping on the throttle..... supercharger whirring away...... 95... 100 ... 105....110....115...[ Mrs MDP now moaning ] ...120 ............... when Whoooosh... bloody hell Shocked this thing came by me on the inside as if I was standing still Embarassed Big Cry ... the acceleration of the Porsche was incredible/impressive Shocked ........ turned out to be a turbo S ..... but I hadn't realised just how quick they were. . . . I really felt at 120mph and still accelerating .. that I had stopped Big Cry Big Cry I was so depressed I slowed down to a crawl and wept. The padded room that I now frequent is rather small Banging Head

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

FFRR 4.4 V8 Vogue SE according to What Car listings is £69900 - the reverse cam is standard as is the Venture Cam so don't be lulled into thinking they are extras!
Sounds like you need to buy the FFRR MDP......................... then you would know that it would NEVER in this world keep up with even a small engined Porsche, but you would have the satisfaction that your car looks so much better and will become an icon in a few years time, unlike the Porsche.

Why not go for a Vogue SE S/C - the fuel consumption is no worse than your fighterbomber and about the same as the 4.4V8............................... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

hey MDP honestly you have a good car - why change it ?

fuel consumption ?

if yes - then i have to agree with Tim: buy the RRS TDV8 HSE + Turbochip Smile

i kinda regret that i hadn't bought the SC in the first place - now i am grounded for another 3 years with the TDV6 ( i think you islanders call it long term hire?)

Going by the LR website at £49k it has just about covered your first years depreciation.
Must be tempting, they are the ultimate, I am still thinking about the 02 reg HSE at £17K, just keep picturing the lovely inside.
As you say MDP you really have to compare it against the top of the range Q7, a car that is a complete beast but it has got 'something' about it what I think a car needs when you are spending big dosh.

Sorry Kaine I disagree - The FFRR is dated and too large and for a young man like MDP the image is just wrong, Martin needs a car to reflect his image, sleek, stylish and fast! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
