Been searching autotrader, found a couple, not too sure I want black

How come some of them are colour coded and some not, also I would like some help on spec levels

Hi Thehos, on the TDV8's you get dynamic stability and brembo brakes as standard, same as the S/C's you might have a rear locking dif they are optional except on the G4's and HST's
There was a facelift around 2010 where they colour coded bumpers etc cars before that have been done by previous owners or maybe traders to help them sell etc
Models tent to be either S, SE, HSE though I think the TDV8 only comes in HSE again not 100% on that. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Hi Thehos.
I only recently joined the forum just after purchasing my first RRS a 2008 plate TDV8. Previously I had an S-TYpe Jag. V8 4.2 petrol.
I love the RRS but am scared about the risk of something major going wrong with it as I bought before seeing some of the horror stories on the forum. Even the minor ailments seem to be major trauma to your wallet and time in the garage. However, touch wood, my first 6000 miles have been relatively trouble free and I did get a 15 month warranty on a relatively low mileage car - now just 52000! My only current issue is the intermittent fault with the self levelling headlamps which I am trying to resolve (see elsewhere on this forum).
On the plus side the RRS is a joy to drive and the TDV8 has power when I need it but is quite happy poodling along.
I would like to try some gentle off road but that's not the main reason for my purchase. I wanted something a bit different from the crowd with a bit of get up and go when necessary.
I'm currently on a trip from Sussex to Aberdeen and back. Done 800 miles so far and it cruises like a dream returning 27 mpg but when I need to get past that caravan (apologies to those other members with leanings in this direction) the RRS has the oomph to do it with no sweat. It's obviously not as fast as the Jag was but its not far off although it seems to loose some of its get up and go at higher speeds (whereas the Jag just kept on going).
I'm thinking about a few mods such as side steps (maybe) and some trim detail but want to sort out the headlamps before I start cosmetic spending.

Well make sure you leave the rose tinted at home and go in with your eyes open. Unlike me who normally jumps in feet first. Make sure you look underneath far more important than the shines paintwork.. Good luck 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Wow. Looking at the forum for the last few months since I've been a member, the list would be quite extensive. I'm sure others here have more knowledge than me but from what I've seen, apart from all the standard stuff with any car purchase, look underneath, and be wary of what might have been towed. It's a big powerful beast and and, looked after it will be a good buy, but it's not like buying a Fiesta! 😊 Robin

Hi all
New member here, I've driven BMW's for the last 20 years but picking up my first RR tomorrow. It's a RRS 2.7TDv6 on a 2006 plate, looking forward to learning about the marque and picking up some tips as I like to do my own work on my cars where possible..
