If we are talking about the same S chain then they used to do 2 different services, one including the 'air con service' (emphasis on the con) and a mini valet and one without those two which was about £100 cheaper.

How much have you been quoted?

the YTS receptionist couldnt give me a price as i phoned up late fri ive just booked it in for end of next week so will get the lowdown on monday

only trouble is they are all S dealers round here  

So just widen your search, if there is a big price difference tell S that you are prepared to travel to get the right price.
I think they have national pricing, when I bought my D3 there it was£380 for the basic service and about £520 for the air con one

Most other dealers are below the cheaper price.

yep had planned to do that monday cliff . they know ive been enquiring about a v8 so lets see what they say when i tell them to forget it  

aljo, not sure precisely where you are but consider using either Lloyds in Carlisle or a new LR service specialist who has opened up on the Team Valley.

Lloyds collect my car (from Slaley) and deliver a new like to like courtesy car. I suspect I am about the limit of their range though.

The new business recently established on Team Valley is to respond to precisely the issues you face. S have a monopoly in the North East LR service and sale yet have lots of unhappy customers looking for a choice. These new guys don't sell Land Rovers but have set up a service and repair business with all the necessary expertise, equipment & tools. This is not a back street operation who claim to know lots about old land rovers. This is a top spec, fully invested, well trained, professional outfit. LR has to support them (block excemption removal 4 years ago requires it) and they can carry out warranty work. They are absolutely determined to achieve way higher standards in customer service, response, attitude and pricing than many of their new customers have experienced elsewhere. thanks smarticus im in durham so team valley is ten mins away will give them a ring tommorow  

We have just had our 1st service on our RRS. Nothing was mentioned about Air con and we paid about £330 from our local dealer. Would be a bit of a hike for you down to sunny Wiltshire though.
