Public apology

Especially to Jonny..

As the title says, maybe others can handle things better me but I'm struggling to be honest.

I'm trying to cope with my elderly mother who has the start of dementia plus 3 other cars needing work aswell as the RRS with a nackered ace pump and probably pipes etc too.
As i say i feel an apology is needed to Jonny as i was an asshole earlier. You're only helping by giving me a name to ask about stuff for a possible repair.... you know the rest and feel bad about it.

This is a great place with many very knowledgeable folk to help and i need to appreciate that. Sure everybody doesn't know everything but there's people here that know a hell of a lot.

So guys if you can accept an apology from an irrate moaning face Scotsman who'll do his best to calm down, that'd be good.

Thanks to whoever takes the time to read this.

Apology accepted Axl - we're all here to help and learn. It must be so frustrating trying to get the car sorted. I'm sure if you were nearer there would be plenty of people willing to give a hand. They really are great cars and even more annoying for you must be trying to get it sorted whilst the weather is cold.

Both my indys fit my parts for me. Came in really useful when the cracked manifold manifested itself. I had a used one (£40 on ebay off a FF RR). A new LR one is £800 or so.

I would potentially speak to the indys again and ask if they'll fit your bits. Tell them you're happy to sign disclaimer etc that there's no comebacks. It may work, it may not.

I think trying to diagnose things on the drive whilst it's freezing is only going to add to the frustration.

Another solution might be worth speaking to Disco Mikey. See if he can diagnose your issues and then see what he would charge to fix and also to take it off your hands if it's too much ££.

Best wishes and och aye the noo !

Jonny

Thanks Jonny..

Yes it's very frustrating at times it's my own fault too for taking on (for me) to much.
I know they're very good cars and is a shame that some people get them and don't care (i do) and that's when the trouble starts. There's 2 garages near me plus the one you mentioned.

I had quite a good chat with one yesterday and said that at worse case scenario I could expect a bill of around £7-8000. Obviously that's out but I may take it to one of them for a diagnosis.

He mentioned about debris ie metal shavings etc from a seized pump. So looks like a could be quite a big job especially diy.

Yes I'll maybe ask Micky about it, he expressed interest if I was to sell but I would like to get some use out out if i can but I know it may not be possible.

Again thanks for being understanding Jonny and will see what happens from here.

Dilemmas dilemmas Very Happy

So just a Scotsman then? Whistle

No need to apologise - we all have Censored to deal with and it's easy to forget others are also doing so.

Chin up. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Didn't see the other stuff unfold - and good on ya for apologising, takes something to do that.

But I saw this bit and think that's a big part of it to be honest. I know from personal experience just how incredibly stressful that particular journey is. And I've a wife who's a specialist MH Nurse in that field.

Don't be afraid to drop me a DM if there's any advice on particular elements of that fecking awful condition that you're pulling your hair out with. I may - or may not - be able to help from my own experiences.

Remember to check out the advice of Alzheimers Society & Age UK. Depending on your local services & the diagnosis, there may be some local support & carers groups - worth checking out even if you're a miserable Censored like me. If your Mum had a Community Nurse, they often have good ideas on tackling behaviours.

Don't forget to look after yourself and immediate family in amidst it all. Take care.
