Permanent Live for NextBase IQ Dashcam & a Powered Sub

Hi - couple of electrical install questions which are separate but linked - if you get my meaning.

I've got a 2010 L320 5.0 Supercharged , and a 2011 L320 3.0 tdv6 - both in Manchester, UK

I've bought a couple of the new Nextbase IQ Dashcams to fit in each car - to use the cameras full functionality - they require a permanent live. The camera comes with a kit to piggyback off the OBD2 socket - but I'd rather install the power supply out of sight behind / under the trim panels and dashboard.
Can anyone suggest where to safely and correctly take this permanent live from and how to route it etc? a link to a 'how-to' video would be fantastic if there is one out there on the tinterweb.

Secondly - the OEM subwoofer speaker in both cars has blown - so I'd like to install an active 3rd party subwoofer enclosure - nothing massive - just enough to make a difference. This also requires a permanent live , and a switched live to power up the sub when the ignition is turned on. Again - has anyone done this (safely and correctly) ? A 'how to' video showing where to route the cables and how the trim comes off would be great if its out there.

Thanks in advance for any help offered Very Happy

I tapped off Fuse No.48 permanent live and No.52 aux. in passengers side fuse box behind the glovebox, ran the wires up behind the "A" post trim and between the headlining and roof panel, assuming the fuse box is the same on a MY10/11 as a MY12/13.

Thanks so much for your reply Col - really appreciated.

when you say Aux do you mean a switched live ? (when ignition is turned on )

Have you had any issues with Battery drain with these kind of dash cams ? - my cars aren't used on a daily basis - (especially the supoercharged lol - I don't own an oil well Laughing )

Hi,

Yeah, Aux is a switched live, I have a Thinkware U3000 dashcam and they have a built in voltage sensor which can be set so if voltage drops below the set voltage it switches off, not sure on other makes of camera. Treat yourself to a ctek smart charger for Christmas if the car isn't used a great deal. Very Happy

Cheers
