Hi, I recently bought a 2008 L320 RRS.
The DVD plyer isn't working so I have removed it to see if I can fix it.

While undert the boot trim, I saw a large cable, with a white corregated plastic sheath. Inside the cable is a wire with a black top. The wire isn't attached to anything. The wire moves back and forth like a lawnmower throttle or similar.

When you move the wire back and forthe, there is a sound close by like a meatal gear is moving.

My question is, what is the wire? Is it meant to be attached to something?

I wish I took a photo.

Fuel filler flap release cable, should lock the flap when you lock the car, one end attached to a solenoid other end attached to fuel flap catch, I believe these catches do have a habit of breaking.

Update

I bought a new actuator as I wasnted to rob the cable. Aftermarket ones are on ebay for about £40.
I now have a spare.

The old just pushes back into the gromet with a plastic trim tool, with a fork.
A little oomp, and it popped on. Still have the spare in case the plastic is weakened, but it took some pushing to get it back on.
