Water Ingress Sport 2015 Help 🥴 Leaking

Hi guys.

So I’ve got a really bad issue here with water pouring into the car whenever it starts raining.

Initially after a water test cost £80 I was told this was to do with the boot seat and rear left passenger door seals so I got them replaced cost of £400, problem still persisted next time it rained water pouring in through the back b pillar/

I’ve had a car report done saying that this problem existed well before I purchased the car however the dealer is refusing to take the car back l, I’ve had it 16 months now still under warranty but apparently this isn’t covered.

So after visiting 5 garages I’ve come to conclusion it could need cleaning out and replacing with a new water pipe in the roof cassette.

A lad I know said he could fill the hole and hope that sorts it but I’m in two minds now.

Should I.

1. Get the water waste pipe filled and hope this solves the issue ?

or

2. Buy a water pipe online around 40 quid and get my body shop guy to hopefully attach this and clear the rust in the hole on the roof ?

Or if you know of any other ways to solve this would be so grateful.

I’m going to lose around 10k on the car if I traded in like this.

Pints and lifetime respect to anyone that can help me with this and solve the issues caused

I’m assuming your car has the sunroof that moves not just the panoramic glass roof that’s fixed in place? The sunroof is quite a common place for water ingress due to the drain hole pipes corroding (or something like that). I think it’s quite an easy DIY job . Do a search on here or maybe YouTube .

Yeah that’s right.

From what I’ve seen on another forum.

I think I need a 3/8 copper pipe about 3-4 inch long to replace the pipe ridge the end with a thin end so it stays put, then seal that on so it doesn’t move or corrode.

Then I think I’m right in thinking then the water will successful run down the water pipe to the bottom of the car as normal and not sit and overflow like it has been doing as it’s had nowhere to go.

Now my next issue is that if the pipe inside is corroded is that running though anyway and not reaching the wheel to come into the car.

So maybe it’s worth running a brand new rubber pipe from the hole at the top to the bottom but I don’t know how I would feed that though all the way.

Unless it’s already present and the water ingress has literally just been pure overflow seeping in.

The thought initially was to just block the pipe up with filler but I believe that would cause the issue to persist or get worse as that’s literally what’s happen now as it’s nowhere to flow out of.

Put sunroof drain holes into the search on here. There are loads of posts about it. Could be a 5 min job if your lucky……

I had the same and looked up a load of fixes here and in other places. Its not a 5 minute job and can be fiddly but worked for me.
Essentially the rubber drain pipe fits over a steel stubby pipe attached to the frame. It is this stubby pipe that corrodes. Depending on how badly corroded it is you may have to remove it completely.
I strongly suggest you do both sides.
This is a very poor design, my next one will definitely not have a pan roof! RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

Should I replace the drain pipe too ? It’s the middle hole that’s corroded will this be the one ?

Don't think you need a new tube, I was able to clean out the rusty debris and re-use the original without any problem. This thread has a lot of advice:
