Any known issues on RRSport Dynamic SE D300 Diesel MHEV

Hello, I'm currently looking to get a new Range Rover Sport Dynamic SE D300 Diesel Mild Hybrid due to my RRS 2005 not ULEZ compliant.

Wanted to know if anyone can advise of any known issues/recall with this model MY23?

So far I've seen wind noise from the pillar windows and fuel flap. I want to make sure any known issues are fixed by the dealer prior to getting the car.

I have that motor in 2021 L494 RRS. It has been flawless so far. I have 32K km, including a 4200+km round trip. Absolutely no issues and fuel economy in the 7l/100km range average.

One interesting aside: at highway speeds, it uses almost no Ad Blue. For the 4K km trip, it used less than a litre. MY21.5 HSE 221KW D16

New or ‘new to you’ as current model is MY/4 and the issues you raise re wind have been fixed. There are still issues with fuel filler flap but JLR are aware of this.

I have D350 and it has been flawless so far. Lovely car all round.

@JDPRRSUK well both to be honest, did i test drive of the D300 Nov, last year and also looking to change from my current RRS 2.7 Diesel. Can i ask what you are paying for your insurance and from who? Cheapest i've got so far is a £5400.

Also have you updated the Pivi Pro?

Hi,

I’ve had a D300 AB since the 31st Oct.

I’m getting the fuel flap cover sorted by my dealer, I’ve had no other issues.

Pivi is currently on V 4.1 with v4.1.1 allegedly in the pipeline.

I’ve had a GHOST-2 fitted on the gear selection and that is brilliant.

This is my fifth Sport on the bounce (see my signature below) and it’s the best yet.

It’s quick, comfortable and the tech is fantastic.

Insurance cost me £850pa - I’m over 60, full NCB, Advanced Driver for 31yrs, five other cars in the family and live in the rural South West.

Hi Jimbg,

Yes!

We have both, a Tasman/white D90 D250 HSE and a D300 AB in Verasine.

Verasine is bordering on a grey colour which flops to a purple tinge in bright sunlight.

Tasman is a true blue in any light!

Here’s my AB on the PDI ramp!

Think insurance is very much dependant on location. I have very similar personal profile as above yet cheapest I could find was £3k with eSure

Yes, you are right. It depends on location. My quote is also from Esure. Seems like living in London area is a premium Smile

I've had a L461 Autobiography D300 for about a year/14k miles and IMHO the D300 is a peach of an engine. Its smooth and relatively economical; I'm seeing an average 34.5mpg if the trip recorder is to be believed and thats a mix of town and motorway driving. Its also very punchy. I thought I might miss having the bigger D350 engine but so far not at all although I do use higher octane fuel like BP ultimate and Shell V Power

So far touching wood there have been no major issues apart from the endemic minor problems like rattling passenger side seat belt buckle and wind noise from around the mirrors. I did have a problem downloading my iPhone contacts onto the PiviPro screen but that was fixed by the dealer with an update. I havent had any recalls either

My big issue with the car and it is entirely my fault is that I bought a stock car in Barasco grey with Light Cloud interior. The Barasco grey looks nothing like it does in the configurator; in reality it is a rather dull off white colour that looks drab when its dirty. And the Light Cloud interior is starting to show marks particularly the drivers seat. But so far as the car drives I'm very pleased with my L461

Hi @Mikef, thanks for that. May I ask what your insurance is like and with who?

Sorry cant tell you what the individual insurance premium is because its covered by my company policy which includes all company vehicles

One other tip. If you want to make the car harder to steal fit a Ghost 2 immobiliser and disable keyless entry

Mikef,

The L461 has UWB technology so no need to disable keyless entry or put your keys in a Faraday cage.

Of 13800 registered, only 13 have been stolen “by any means”.

Totally agree on the GHOST, mine is brilliant.

Your old 2019 AB had UWB technology as well, that's why Canbus thefts took off. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled
