Net Zero by 2035, Insurance and reliability

Hi all

I genuinely believe I have ordered my P460 (was a P440) may last year because I want to do the right thing for the planet, but just asking for a friend !!,

Are you thinking of cancelling because of the change in government legislation,
or the recently mentioned recalls on headlights
or the software issues that have been mentioned delaying the hybrid versions
or the fact they seem to cost a fortune to insure (not necessarily specific to the hybrid)

or are you going ahead because you have confidence a PHEV RRS is still the right thing

Welcome views and opinions please ! Smile

ps. anyone who already cancelled last minute, how easy is it ? (alledged build slot in 2 weeks)

Personal I will buy what I like and if that’s a V8 Petrol as I have had in the past then so be it, here in the UK we are only a small island, we are not going to save the world on our own.

A freaking men, Crs! Until India, Africa, the Middle East, South America and China get onboard, net zero means nothing globally. That’s not to say anyone should purposely run out and pollute, but this feel good legislation isn’t actually going to change much of anything. If you’re bored, download an app called Air Matters. Then take a look at the map showing the pollution globally. You’ll figure it out really quick.

As for the car, get what you want and enjoy it. If driving a PHEV puts the lead in your pencil then go for it. But do it because it benefits you and is what you want. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Most likely, all of a sudden, synthetic fuel will become more commonplace and cheaper, so for me I'll keep a V12 or V8 petrol. 2015 RRS HSE Dynamic 3.0 SDV6

Net Zero is a complete con, dreamt up by metropolitan hand wringers who fundamentally cannot understand why we all don't just go to work on the tube.
No amount of impoverishing/high taxation of the population of the UK will make any difference whatsoever and please show me a bank that will take 'the right thing to do' as payment for a mortgage.
The Net Zero policy is such a fundamental change to our way of life that (just like Brexit) should have been put to a referendum. Not hard to understand why it wasn't.
The root of all societies problems is overpopulation, the planet has plenty resources, just too many consumers.
I don't have a solution other than a general resistance to anybody telling me what to do or how to live my life 'in my best interests'.
Rant over. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

Well, you just wrote "the planet has not enough resources". If it does not suffice, it is not "plenty".

Well perhaps if a couple of generations ago someone told people that they are going to overpopulate Earth and it is in their best interest to live their lives differently, there would be less problems with overpopulation?

Oh, no, there were too many smarties who generally resist. Regards etc.,

I remember a teacher in high school telling us the biggest threat to the earth is people/overpopulation. He also said we need one of three things to keep population in check; diseases, wars and disasters, which we haven’t had any bad ones in a while. I feel we’re on a collision course with all three. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Ive ordered my RRS P550e for the same reason. As I'm ordering through a company car scheme the 5% BIK makes this a no brainer compared to the ICE options. I would have ordered a fully elec RRS if it was available - and will consider changing to full elec if the price / wait time isn't ridiculous...

Actually, the best way to reduce population growth is education, particularly of women. It's no surprise that the highest population growth rates tend to be in poorly educated, patriarchal societies. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Unfortunatly those that need culling are hardly likely to read warning labels (that's assuming that they can read in the first place - or follow the pictograms).). 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.
