Try NFU Mutual.. they seem to be one of the few taking on new business… it’ll still be double last years premium unfortunately…

You're not the only one and there are other threads on here and the sister LR forums about the same issue. Did you renew at that price and I'm going to assume you've shopped around?. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

It won't be long when it will be cheaper to delete theft insurance, squirrel the difference away, install your own anti-theft measures & use the saving after a few years to buy another one if the worst comes to the worst.

£5k to insure a vehicle worth £15k (some of the figures I've seen quoted).

It's really the fault of the "high end" keyless entry vehicles being easier to steal cascading down to the "lesser end" vehicles & the human race being basically lazy & accepting this inane technology. 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.

Rocketing insurance prices

Hi,

We had similar issues but not such a extortionate price: our renewal price doubled with Admiral on a multi car policy. The Sport was £553 to insure last year and they wanted over £1,100 this year. We only insure for 6,000 miles a year and it is kept in a locked alarmed garage. We got it down to £663.66 with AXA last week. We do have 13 years no claims.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Bali Blue

I was with admiral also on a multicar policy,, the total policy was going to increase by more than 50%,, ended up with Churchill. When I phoned admiral to cancel the policy the guy offered me another quote which was incline with the Churchill price. Asked him why they didn't send that quote in the first place,,, apparently the first quote is computer generated and not always the best price,,, too late was the cry as I wasn't going to go through all the faff cancelling Churchill. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I was with Admiral. Premium went up to over £500. Shopped around and ended with LV for £300. So that was a no brainer. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Does make you pause and think, is the tide turning regarding the hike in insurance premiums. With all our different circumstances in life and with new cars to vintage cars this forum attracts, there is a common denominator of insurance premiums making owners to choose to pay it or trade it and move on. Yet some of us see an increase of a uncontested amount. But as already said, LR is not the insurers comfortable group at the moment in any guise. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

I sold my sport because of the insurance rip off, my landrover discovery which is my daily driver was nearly £700 to insure , used to be around £400, my 911 which is my hobby/ weekend car is around £500. Insurance companies can charge what they want it seems, if your unlucky enough to need to make a claim your fighting them to try to get the cars real value back.

But on the other side of the coin, if insurance premiums are high, people will get rid of the car and they will be less popular - meaning more available to buy at a lower price on the second hand market.

If you buy one cheap because they're unpopular, the insurance premium is effectively offset by the reduced purchase price. It's a bit of swings-and-roundabouts.

Also, insurance premiums appear to be hugely affected by location. Recently, when this issue was being discussed on here, I got quotes for a 2yo SVR valued at £80k (made up figure). I saw quotes as low as £700 (from esure/Sheila's Wheels). So that would certainly not be a barrier for me.

I did also see quotes of £3000 but that was with insurers I've never even heard of, so I guess they're small and running scared of the risk. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I'm with NFU and last year it went up by 50% to £680, so I complained and got it down to £550. Seeing this thread, played the meerkat game and its £315 with Churchill...
