Low coolant

Hi just bought a 2013 L320 on Friday after a belt and service done on it. On Saturday the check low cooling display come on and red warning triangle. Pulled over and coolant level was above the max fill (as I would expect with expansion) and temp was bang in the middle. Started it this morning cold and everything ok but after driving 20 miles same warning. Left for 3 hours got in and no warning. Is this the classic sign for expansion sensor .??

Yes, as above. I heard it was a bit of a fiddly fix so I got a new expansion chamber that came with a new sensor. Barrie.

Thanks for that. Got a warranty with it but need the car to go on holiday tomorrow for a couple of days. Only 30 miles away. Do you think it will be ok to use if I keep an eye on temperature
Cheers
Geoff

tbh I've driven mine round for weeks with warning flashing up on dash while waiting for new bottle to be delivered
so yes you will be fine as long as you keep eye on the levels regularly

If that’s the problem, then yes it will be fine. Barrie.

Thanks for the help
I knew I would have problems when I became an owner but didn’t expect any after 20 hours.
Just given my mate my BMW 5 series I’ve had for 18 years and had only 2 breakdowns
