RRS 2006 Head Unit Replacement.

When I bought my RRS a few months ago it had been re-trofitted with a Pioneer Touchscreen Head Unit.

TBH, I don't like it (it's not DAB), nothing wrong with it, the Bluetooth works very well & it's a nice unit. However, it does not work with the steering wheel controls & whoever installed it by-passed the original HK amps.

I would prefer an original head unit & use the DAB/Bluetooth adaptor I had on my L322 Vogue which works well.

Question is - will a used unit (plenty of fleabay) need coding ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It would help if you fill in your profile.
Is it a V6 or V8 ?

A factory model should not need coding.

I can't help but think if someone has gone to the trouble of fitted aftermarket, it would be wise to stick to that route

Thanks for the reply Andy,

I thought I had filled in my profile ! (have done now).

Thanks regarding the coding.

I just don't like the touch screen - the unit installed in the car does not appear to have the facility to connect to the steering wheel controls. It's a bottom of the range model by the looks of things.

I've had a specialist have a brief look at it & the wiring leaves a little to be desired.

TBH, I'm still keen on sourcing an original unit (hint, hint if anyone has one).

Not done anything about it yet.

Thanks, whoever changed the head unit by-passed the HK amp so I'm hoping that's OK.
