Motion Sensor failiure

Ive had an issue with passenger side deployable side step stuck out.

Local indi diagnosed motor failure but would only fit new motor including bracket which is around £500

Motor on its own is around £130.

Decided to take it home and replace myself. Removed motor and bracket assembly pretty simple. Found the motor shaft was seized into the assembly, new motor had already been delivered so replaced it once i managed to free up the old motor and remove it.

Motor now fitted but it only retracts.. I have plugged the old motor back in to the loom and it still works but again only retracts.

I plugged in my IID tool and re set fault codes hoping this would sort it but no joy. 1 fault code remaining though.

C1008-93 (2f) POWER RUNNING BOARD - Left Position/motion sensor - Component Failure - no operation.

Can anyone advise on where the sensor is located please so i can replace.

Hi Andrew, di you get a resolution to this ?

Our near side step is stuck half way out, and get a motor fault code.
Prior to it getting stuck it was trying to deploy the step and sometimes getting so far, then going back in. I assume it was thinking it was hitting something, current limiting, so going back. The last time it came half out and is stuck there.

So I too intend to drop the step and see whether it is just stuck or the gearbox is fecked.

Any tips on removing the step ?
When you unplugged your step, does it leave the socket exposed ?
once you got it off was it just the motor shaft seized or other bits of the hinge too ?
easy fix ?
any pictures ?

I am hoping I can get to the mounting bolts with it stuck in this position... Confused
