Can,t say for sure what is going on with yours but most vehicles these days have a number of systems running through the cluster. The main resister for the canbus network backbone also sits in the cluster. if the canbus network has been interrupted it could explain the limp mode as it won't be receiving signals from various modules. A dry joint in the board or intermittent connection could also explain the off/on nature of your fault. I recently repaired a dry joint on the cluster PCB on a Ford which was causing all sorts of issues including not switching off the immobilized, limited performance, erratic Speedo and array of warning lights.

This is a well known fault, dry joints on the main cluster panel is the 1st port of call. If your not happy stripping it down send it off to a good repair company. Had todo this on a 2009 D3. Same cluster.

Thanks for the info. It's currently at the LR dealership and they are taking a look. If as suspected, it's a dry joint cluster problem, they will send it for testing and repair by an instrument panel specialist. Finger's crossed. |

Don,t want to put you on a downer but if you have given it to a LR dealership I would be surprised if they get this repaired if faulty. They will more than likely try to sell you a new replacement. They will not repair any module or component containing a PCB. (Cluster has one). But good luck and hopefully they find it is a damaged wire rather than the board. |
