Perfectly common. Most threads on here have been about dicy launches at a roundabout. Some have said it can be mapped out and equally others put the gears to manual and stick it in first/get going/then put it into drive.

Oh ok thanks, I panicked for a moment. If others have experienced this then I guess ok, just a little edgy when you want to pull off and out your foot down and the 2 sec delay (it’s actually probably a nano second but it feels longer ) |

It appears to be the way that Land Rover have mapped/calibrated the throttle / gearbox relationship along with setting off in 2nd gear. "They all do that, sir!" applies.

I don’t think the suicide pause happens when the car is in sport mode. |

How does my 2011 not do this? Are you driving with both feet? At a complete stop, I go brake to accelerator and the car rockets off. The transmission definitely goes into first when I come to a complete stop. Only at roundabouts where I quickly slow down then try to accelerate does it seem to bog down in the wrong gear, but no delay on the accelerator. Maybe it’s a RHD thing?

Our old Audi A6 did this and it had a CVT box. Once going though it was fine. I don’t think it’s an exclusive RRS issue though. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |

Sports mode or a remap cures this, it seems to be more drastic on the RRS than other autos I own. 2018 Telsa MS

If yours goes in to first gear every time you stop then it's definitely not a standard set up. They are set up to start in second gear when in drive and no special programmes selected. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I get this lag when pulling away at roundabouts and busy junctions so it has been a habit to slide it into sport mode just before the junction as I believe that it tends to select 1st gear rather than the programmed 2nd for starting. Once moving you can slide it back into drive. Robin

Turning out of our Close on a blind bend with this ever present "lag" causes me some concern on most occasions, from now on I'll select sport mode to set off |

So everyone’s car with a six speed transmission only shifts four times?
