Bad oil leak, need a good indie near west london

Hi Guys,

2012 sd v6 just spat its oil out….small leak now turned to dumping a ltr a day Sad

Took to a local garage for a look, cleaned up and said it’s from behind the engine and they can’t fix it as the engine needs to come out so needs a LR specialist.

Any thoughts of what it could possibly be, how many kidneys I need to sell for it and any recommendations for a good indie near high Wycombe/ west london?

Many thanks in advance

Rovertune in Reading?

I haven't used them but they have been mentioned on a number of occasions as good LR indies in that area. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Definitely take it to a specialist as these guys don’t know you take the body off rather than the engine out. Although that’s gotta be one huge leak to drop that much oil a day. There’s not much at the back of the engine, maybe the oil cooler has got a leak? Is there oil in the valley under the oil cooler? 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Update - fixed

Hello All,

So before I saw the recommendation here, I was given another and had the car delivered to this garage. Timberlake Motors in Thame.

There was a delay as the garage was due to close for annual leave for a few days, but I had a friends car and was able to wait. Turns out it was the oil cooler unit itself, big leak from the unit and as it was under pressure explains the loss. There were able to change it without splitting the body so that saved on labour, but as oil had gotten everywhere he expressed there was contamination on the drive belt and it should be changed, so I had that done at the same time.

Back on the road and ready for another bunch of miles!

Thanks for the input above guys!

PS, I called rover tune and left them two voice messages, they never bothered to call me back....a tad rude.
PPS, the original garage put their hands up at the time and said this was outside of their scope and it needed someone who knowns LR's, but their call on it being the oil cooler was correct to be fair.
