Need a scan tool, is this one any good please?

Hi,
Has anyone used this scan tool and is it any good? If not could anyone suggest the one to go for at a reasonable price? Thanks.

Oh that’s great thanks. I’ll have a look around see if I can get one.

Thanks For your advice Andy. I bought the Autel AP200 from Amazon for £50. It quickly prompted me to investigate the rear left wheel speed sensor. After replacing that all my warning lights are extinguished and life is good again. It’s a great tool and looks really versatile with the availability of all car manufacturers that can be downloaded. Thanks again, great advice. Thumbs Up

Glad it helped.

You do have to pay for other manufactures

I have the iCarsoft and it has proved OK for diagnostics on my '59 plate L320, but it doesn't do programming.

Software updates are free, certainly at the moment anyway. It's not locked to a VIN number and will do oil service resets, EPB and battery monitor reset amongst others. It doesn't require a separate power supply, mobile phone/tablet, nor an internet data connection, so it will work out in the field

It can also read basic ODBII codes on other vehicles and has correctly diagnosed a failed crank shaft sensor on a Kia Rio, as well as inlet manifold baffles on a VW Passat.

Whilst I'm a competent mechanic on my 1985 Classic RR, I don't work on the L320, so it's all I need. I also have a very helpful indie!

But, if you want to do programming, then it's not for you.

All good stuff. I’m still exploring the functionality of the AP200. Might take me a while. I did like the all in one convenience of the the icarsoft unit but the AP200 was so cheap in comparison it was that that won the decision. Thanks
