Diagnostic Toll or Software

Hi Guys, i need to have a better way of trouble shooting problems than just a code reader, Now on my BMW i had some software for my laptop which enabled me to do a vast amount of interegation and mods.

Now for this RRS of mine is the same available or should i get a diag Tool , about £500 and if this is the prefered route , anybody got any recom's

What i need yo be able to do is for it to tell me why it reduced the performance

Many thanks

Rich

Most diagnostics tools will give you a code. Even JLR-SDD gives you a code and then you go through the diagnostics flow chart, unless you already think you know what it is.

Mine popped restricted performance a little bit ago. Hooked up to JLR-SDD and it said MAP sensor was out of range. Well, knowing the little bit I do about these cars I immediately looked at my intake manifolds, sure enough one was cracked and leaking.

Have you downloaded the workshop manuals for your car? With the code and the workshop manual you can get through most issues. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Well if you compare a generic Ebay/amazon £25 diag tool with an AP200 @£60 then it is an amazing bit of kit.
This is because it will program keys, calibrate the suspension etc.
Ok, it's not the fastest thing I have used, but for the money.....

The Gap IID is an amazing bit of kit, with great support. But it costs £500

It's almost worth getting the AP200 (white) first an seeing what you think, I can be used on other cars too.

Sorry to revive an old thread but seems to be very relevant as i have just got a new (to me) MY13 RRS and was pretty sure the Maxi AP200 (the white one) could reprogramme keys but i've checked and none of the hot functions seem to be correct, even though i've used the 'verify keys' and seems to work (so it's clearly got the smarts to be able to do something with keys). BTW, in the above screenshot, the 'immobilisaztion' function doesn't seem to work, so am wondering if that's the way it should have worked...

@Andy K - have you managed to programme a key with the AP200?
