07 Supercharged ACE pump & pipes replacement (advice nee

Hi Folks,

In need of some advice please. Have a 07 Supercharged. Ace pump and pipes needed to be replaced. I understand the chassis must be raised to fit the pipes. Second hand pump is fitted, have also replaced alternator and 2x belts whilst in there but I am now considering doing away with the system. I was fully intent on fixing the problem but it's becoming a pain and costs mounting.

I have read conflicting opinions on forums about disabling the system. On both the effect it has on vehicle and the ways this is done. I am not super fussed about the effect on handling etc but certainly want the car to remain safe, not that it get's rallied! I'm keen to understand my options from someone with prior experience here. I assume I have three options at present:

1. Disable/Bypass the ACE system (unsure of everything I would need to complete or buy for the job?)

2. Continue with the pipes replacement next (bought new already) and find someone nearby (car won't drive) good but reasonable to raise the chassis on a two post ramp. Based in Ayrshire, Scotland. Once done, I understand the pump bleeding process can be difficult and requires two pieces of equipment at reservoir and pump sides, although others don't seem to think the job is difficult or needs any such specialist equipment at all - i.e the pump can be hand turned to insure fluid is present and then bled manually.

3. A long shot - cut out the offending leaking middle pipe sections and piece in replacement high pressure pipes and compression fittings. (As someone who has done some domestic plumbing over the years, I would be keen to establish if this is actually viable or just nonsense - some on other forums are adamant this can be done no bother). If it is indeed possible would like to know exactly what to buy.

I am changing my front pipes and will be cutting the new ones to save body lift you can get 400bar fittings from £3 up be careful as the system has a maximum working pressure of 150 bar

I am under the impression from some posts that the system self bleeds but I’m only replacing the front pipes not the whole system 61 AB 5.0 supercharged rocket

Its not that big of a job,you only need to lift the body an inch or so,its possible to do the job with 2 jacks.
It does self bleed,well,mine did anyway.
Don't remove the system,it will ruin the feel of the car.

Presuming yours was all front end, how did you manage to bleed the pump and pipes to reservoir daxmatt?

I'd be keen to hear or learn more about the fittings you intend to buy? presumably you have bought exact replacement pipes to fit vehicle rather than DIY ones?

I just filled it up,and topped it up a few times,never bled anything

What diameter pipe do they fit in mm? so I know to ask for the right thing cheers

H ShooterNeil, apologies for late reply.

I've had a few other things to deal with so this hasn't been at the top of my agenda for a while, back on the case now though.

That looks like a tidy job, well done. I take it all is sorted now?

I'd be keen to have a quick chat with you over the phone if you wouldn't mind? I've pieced in my replacement pipes and at the refilling the system stage. Opinions on how or what should be used to accomplish this properly vary massively. I'm keen to avoid buying the bleeding bottle £300 and control box at another approx £300 but certainly don't want to fry the new pump if not bled properly. Your insight or anyone else's with experience of this for that matter would be much appreciated, thanks.
