OK, panic over, because it was tucked under a cover, I thought it needed to be there, but it appears it should have gone onto the air box.

I think it's a vacuum link between the airbox and the port deactivation switch. Basically, when the TDV8 is at low revs, one set of inlet ports are deactivated by closing off the incoming air (easier than having variable valve timing). The TDV8 has a swirl inlet and a filling inlet and only the swirl inlet is used at low revs. The filling inlet then comes in to, well, fill the cylinder as revs rise.

Find a decent indy to work on your RRS. The dealer network are rubbish and will likely cause you problems. No, that's unfair. They WILL cause you problems.

Am looking for one, found one not too far away, but they wanted more than the dealer for a service, so needless to say will not be going back.

An indy charging more than a main dealer is not, I suggest, a good indy...

This has been my experience too. Not only with my RRS but also the Jag before it. Since I've found a really good indy the car has behaved very well. Its service in March this year was its first visit to a garage since the service the previous year. That was unheard of when it was services by the main dealer. I know, that's put the kiss of death on it now . Not sure where you are in West Sussex and so perhaps a trip to Heathfield in East Sussex is too far, but I can recommend Groombridges as a fantastic Indy for LR products. Just to add, they do provide a courtesy car if necessary at no extra charge (often a disco with 180,000 miles on it but totally suitable for getting around whilst your RRS is with them)! Robin

I know it's been a long time, but the pipe in question has now perished.
