Rear diff oil leak

So had my car MOTd today and it came back with an advisory, oil leak, but not excessive rear (diff). I have no oil on the floor of garage and to be honest can’t see any form of moisture or oil leak from under the car. Should I be worried?

I have the warranty direct warranty on the car and it does say that oil seals are covered. See section C on the photo. Anyone else had this issue?

Of course it is, the non standard orientation info stored in the photo by Apple will be understood by any Apple device.

There are dozens of posts on the forum that have fallen foul of this.

The only way to avoid it in future is to hold any Apple device in the correct orientation or use an app to correct it. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Had this on mine - is a known issue and was covered by LR aftermarker warranty. Hope you get it sorted.

In your gallery, select the image and then immediately below the image is a button to "crop and rotate". 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

it's the infamous rear diff pinion seal leak - there is a recall for that fix, it should have been done under LR warranty.

See here: https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic53164.html

Even a slight leak can cause the bearings to run dry and then you get the dreaded whine, which means a whole new rear diff. Hopefully not the case with yours. --

So I had a look under car today and found what could be the cause of the leak. It looks like some sort of nipple with a square hole in it. It looks like it can be removed or tightened up and no doubt will have a seal of some sort. What do you guys think?

It is the drain plug. Changed my diff oil last week. To resolve just buy a new one. You will need to slacken the fill plug first do this before you do anything else in case you can't remove it. Otherwise messing with the drain plug you loose oil undoing then cannot refill. Takes about 0.8l.

I’ve had a sheet of cardboard under the car now for 1 day with not a drop of fluid on it. When I take the car out over the weekend I’ll keep the sheet under it to see if it leaks when engine is warm.

So I’ve pulled the car out of the garage and raised it up on the air suspension to get a better look. I know it’s not a good idea to get under the car in case it comes down by itself but I was very quick…..So the leak looks to me like it’s coming from the shaft that goes in then I assume the fuel is tracking down to lowest pint that is the drain plug. Photos attached. I’m getting worried now. I’m hoping this is covered with my WD warranty. I’m going to contact JAS tomorrow to see if it’s something that would be covered by a warranty.
