The best I have ever seen out of my 5.0 is 21mpg and that was on the journey home after having it re-mapped and s/c pulley upgraded. Otherwise average is around 14-15mpg and that is in eight years of ownership based on fuel put in and mileage covered not the lie'O'meter.

Cheers
Col

Mine averages 16 MPG with mainly short journeys. Last year we had a week in Suffolk - clocking up over 300 miles at an average of 22.5 MPG. However, most of that was on the A14 at 70 MPH travelling to and from Suffolk. Interestingly, I brimmed the tank before the drive there and topped up in Suffolk. Steady cruising produced just over 25 MPG - even with all holiday gear, dog, wife etc on board. There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley
