You can actually buy a replacement rubber Boot/Dust Seal kit, and they a very easy to change without removing the pistons. Might be worth removing the dust seals to get a better look at the rusted part of the pistons to see if they are bad or it is only the part that is exposed that is a bit rusty. If you do renew the dust boots, note the caliper use two different size pistons although the difference is noticeable the genuine kits are a little expensive and you wouldn't want to damage a new boot by trying to fit the smaller one to the larger piston etc.

The two big mounting bolts appear to have same part number for all variants so should be ok. they are tightened up to somewhere like 270/280 Nm though. I did fit new ones when I replaced my discs and pads, mainly because getting genuine parts here is not all that quick so ordered all new bolt's, fitting kit etc. ready in case had any problems when fitting them.

Theres only l that has a small rip in, one piston that has a few dents around the edge, Now cleaned up they’re in good condition I dont think i will even paint them, A few chips in paint here and there but not enough to warrant a refurb i dont think, So i will get new bolts then as you recommend and a set of dust seals, I take it the disc guards will be too small so they need to come off and be binned So the new discs wont have any guards? |

I can't be certain but they are different part numbers for the backplates for the larger discs, but have a vauge recollection that someone on the forum said you can use the original backplates as they will still fit, the TDV8 with brembos did have 360mm discs, the 6 pots are 380mm so fairly close but not sure what diam. they were on the later TDV8 with trw calipers, guess it would be try it and see.

I will see when i swap them, If the back plates are too small i have read ppl have not had any plates and not needed but surely they’re, Been looking for the ebc drillied and grooved discs and theres so many varients its not easy, Just want to order them and the pads and i think they can be fitted soon. |

Personally I would not run them without the backplates.

I agree Col, Just been looking at the powerful uk upgrade kit thwy do and they have the larger back plates, So i have a few part numbers to find. Back plates and also the bolts and spring kit that holds the pads in, Noticed these 6 pots dont have the large middle bolt which im hoping comes with the kit. Also read some ppl have bought the rrff 6 pots which are not the same as sport l494 is there anyway to tell i have the correct callipers of the photos i have put on this thread? |

I wouldn't know the physical difference if any, and I am only basing it on part numbers, but The L405 fullfat from 2013 on had the same caliper as the L494 Sport. The 2010-2013 fullfat had a different part number for the 6pot, but as said would not know the difference. The chances are L/R used different number for various caliper depending on the branding and colour, some were Grey and branded Land Rover some are Red and branded Brembo, not sure what is on the Blue painted one's, my old L320 came with Red front and rears which were a factory option which the fronts are branded Brembo.

They were advertised as off a MY2015 so thats good if the FF and sport had the same, These should fit. I will order the back plates for sure, Just been looking at drilled and grooved discs, Heres some more pictures of the bracket i mentioned which looks like a shield of some sort just dont know whether its needed or to take it off, Also i have seen the wear pads are different so im guessing the l494 sensors will plug into the loom where the l320 sensors connect to?
