Heated seats

Is it just me or are the heated front seats in a RRS barely worth the name? Even at their hottest setting they only get tepid whereas on various BMWs and Audis I’ve had they almost set your trousers on fire. At setting 1 or 2 it’s barely noticeable at all. There’s also almost no detectable heat on the backrest. I don’t sit in the back so don’t know what they’re like there, but hopefully the heated steering wheel on my next one will be more impressive.

I'd say there's something wrong with your heated seats - my MY2018 seats get uncomfortably warm on the highest setting.

the seats get very warm, you only need them on for around 2 minutes, before it becomes uncomfortable.
your heating pads probably need replacing.

Mine work really well, do take a few mins to warm up though and then have to turn down.

Mmm, interesting. I’ve had the car since new 3 years ago (MY19) and the seat heating has never been impressive since the start - I’ve certainly never had to turn them down cos they’re getting too hot, that’s for sure!!

However the lease expires in a couple of months and it’ll be away, so I’ll live with it a bit longer and hope the replacement is better.

Having come from a MY13 RR Evoque, the seats do not warm up anywhere near as quickly, but they do get hot eventually. I do miss the near instant heat. MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)

My 2012 RRS seats used to heat up much quicker than my 2015 RRS. I have put it down to the newer car having heated and cooled seats so may have less heating elements in the pads due to having cooling bits too.

If you have heated/cooled seats they do not have heating elements, they use a Peltier device which heats or cools depending on which way round it is connected.

They are slower to heat up but my 2018 gets very hot on 3.

I have never used my heated seats, but would not want to be without the heated steering wheel. If both were options I personally would go for the heated wheel every time.
I had a Volvo in the early 90's which was my first car with heated seats. I switched on the passenger side with my father in law onboard. After a few minutes he thought he had wet himself. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

I didn’t know that. Mine get very hot too but does take a bit longer than normal heated seats.

Mine take a little longer than my Mercedes did but after 10 minutes both back and seat are hot, and need turning down

To be totally honest, my old disco 3 seats warmed up a lot quicker. However the heated steering wheel is new to me and is almost instant Thumbs Up
