EPB Squeal

My car has close to 200,000km and the the only work done on the rear brakes has been one set of pads. At my last service I noted the rotors are getting a bit thin and the pads are down a bit so have these parts to go in soon. The hand brake has never been serviced and the shoes original.

3 months ago, I parked the car and went into the house then heard a loud noise coming from the car - I assumed it was the EPB but what confused me was the noise only sounded after the car was locked up - sounds some 40secs after activation. Noise was noted and for attention when the brakes to be done.

Yesterday I parked and engaged the park brake and all OK but about 30 secs later the squeal is heard again but EPB is working OK.

So I need to service the EPB but shouldn't the squeal happen when the EPB is activated not some 30 - 40 secs later?

Thanks

I don't have an answer but I would agree with you that the EPB would squeal when activated.

That's definitely what happened to mine recently when I engaged the ebb, the squeal was instant.

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

The suspension often drops a touch a short period after the engine is switched off and the doors closed. Could it be a suspension bush that's making the noise as the suspension shifts? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Mine does that; stop, get out, lock the doors and the car 'relaxes' .. since my ARB bushes are, er, past their best, it creaks pretty loudly sometimes as it relaxes down. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S
