Bad Wheel Bearing - Cause of Tranny not shifting to 2nd?

Hello All,

I've had a squealing/grinding noise from my drivers side front wheel for a little while now. I finally got it to the garage today and they let me know that the wheel bearing had collapsed. Just this morning before getting to the garage, I began having an issue where the vehicle did not want to shift from first gear to second unless it was in sport mode.

Is it possible that the bad wheel bearing is the cause of the shifting issue? I've read that the computer does not let the vehicle shift if the wheel speeds do not match within some tolerance because it believes the vehicle is in a turn. I assume the bad wheel bearing could cause the wheel speeds to be far enough off to cause this. Thoughts?

Thanks
BobbyF
