Could be a break in the optical fibre. You can test both ends with a torch.

Thanks Col further to my last post the Dab icon and cd soft keys are grayed out the radio button is pressable but does nothing

further to this problem diagnoses of my car took place today seems that the head unit is caput or needs software update,as the car was in the other month for a sat nav update I have p[lumed for a used head unit which I will have to get recoded through the main st(d)ealer hopefully that will be easy enough because you can now do it online through land rover fvor £20.
