They are stunning cars and I have now had three L494s and done over 120k in them... all performed superbly and incredibly reliably.. only minor faults but have served me well...

Definitely go for a V8 , I bought my first one almost 2 years ago knew nothing about them at all, fortunately I found a low ownership with full history TDV8 and although it is a 2007 it's totally immaculate. I found a great independent for servicing by asking local owners and had everything checked & serviced, after reading the comments on here about the crank failures I'm very glad I never purchased the V6 model. Keep on top of services/repairs and you will be fine. |

Dont be scared off by the V6 stuff, I wanted a V8 because of this then after alot of research realised the V8's also fail, and the V6 problem is probably less likely than winning the lottery, also the V8's are too old to get 3rd party Warranties on, so went for a V6 in the end with a comprehensive warranty, Just get it in writing that the fault is covered also with wear and tear cover.

What sort of annual mileage do you anticipate on doing? if not very high consider going for the 5.0L S/C.

I pick up my first ever RRS (2012 SDV6) next week and the garage has sold me an extended 2 year warranty with breakdown cover.

Thanks. Good luck with the vehicle. I am looking to do a deal autumn time, so I am at the moment looking and learning, I find it difficult to find a like for like spec when pricing, there seems to be a lot of options, but they all look a smart motor. |
