Buyer advise

Hello all
After reading some of the topics here thought I would join and pick your knowledge,
Big 60 next year and my treat was going to be a coveted RRS, always fancied a red one (Most of my vehicles have been red) something about three yrs old 30K miles budget 40-50k with (part ex and savings) Have had for several years Isuzu double cab pickups, a very practical vehicle for farming, Crap in the back but nice clean cab for going out at night. But the time has come to treat myself to a more luxury machine, so RRS is the want. Having said all that which one?, having read this Forum I am now frightened, what with crank failures, engines seizing and bits sticking , do any of these RRS drive without too much trouble?
Have had good luck with the Isuzu, please tell me that the RRs are what I want them to be.
Cheers

They are stunning cars and I have now had three L494s and done over 120k in them... all performed superbly and incredibly reliably.. only minor faults but have served me well...
It depends on the mileage you are doing but for piece of mind I would consider an extended warranty given the complexity of them...
Had the diesel SDV6, the 5.0S and now the SVR... awesome cars all of them.... if you have to have diesel and frightened by the occasional crank failure on the SDV6 then maybe consider the TDv8?

Definitely go for a V8 , I bought my first one almost 2 years ago knew nothing about them at all, fortunately I found a low ownership with full history TDV8 and although it is a 2007 it's totally immaculate. I found a great independent for servicing by asking local owners and had everything checked & serviced, after reading the comments on here about the crank failures I'm very glad I never purchased the V6 model. Keep on top of services/repairs and you will be fine.

Dont be scared off by the V6 stuff, I wanted a V8 because of this then after alot of research realised the V8's also fail, and the V6 problem is probably less likely than winning the lottery, also the V8's are too old to get 3rd party Warranties on, so went for a V6 in the end with a comprehensive warranty, Just get it in writing that the fault is covered also with wear and tear cover.
I love my V6, it doesnt have the V8 growl but is more than enough for the car.

What sort of annual mileage do you anticipate on doing? if not very high consider going for the 5.0L S/C.

Cheers

I pick up my first ever RRS (2012 SDV6) next week and the garage has sold me an extended 2 year warranty with breakdown cover.

I've gone through the fine print and it covers pretty much everything including crankshaft.

So whatever you go for, be sure to take out a decent extended warranty for piece of mind as I too was concerned after the horror stories and this being my first RSS.

Thanks. Good luck with the vehicle. I am looking to do a deal autumn time, so I am at the moment looking and learning, I find it difficult to find a like for like spec when pricing, there seems to be a lot of options, but they all look a smart motor.
