Engine management light

My engine management light came on the other day - 2017 RRS Autobiography with a 3.0L Diesel engine.

The car felt no different and I only noticed because the message and triangle came up to tell me the door was open when my wife got out, then I noticed the amber engine symbol.

I tried turning the engine off and on a few times, but the error remained. As I recently subscribed to Amazon Prime for a particular purchase, I thought I’d get the ODB2 reader I’d been meaning to and it was delivered today. I loaded up InCarDoc and I have a code P0234. This means nothing to me. I’ve cleared the code and the light has gone out.
I’ve restarted the car and it hasn’t come back on.

When I read the codes again with another reader (Car Scanner) it does tell me about a number of archived codes, plus the “permanent” P0234 code.

Has the error gone, or have I just suppressed the warning light?

What caused it in the first place?

Do I need to take it to the dealer if the engine light stays out?

Do I need to take it to the dealer if the engine light comes back on?

Just Google the fault code P0234, lots of hits, e.g;

Thanks, turbo over boost, which doesn’t help a great deal. Anyway, was more bothered about the other questions I asked. Particularly does clearing a fault just mask it (like silencing a smoke alarm) or if the fault is ongoing, would the engine management light just come back in again. The fault code on the second reader said permanent. I think I’ve now worked it out that the light would light up if it was ongoing, and the “permanent” code will disappear once the car has run normally for a while (or relight the engine light if it runs abnormally again). Permanent just meaning you can’t clear it entirely, only the car can.

If it stays disappeared and the code goes away, I will do nothing more. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Is there any further update re this as I have had the exact same issue and code. RAC have cancelled it and the car was driving fine before and after the reset.
Did you have any further issues?

Yes - happened again yesterday. The throttle body was sticking. The light came on and shortly after, the DPF filled up. Then red lights, limited performance mode and a call to Land Rover assist - who replaced the throttle body and regenerated the DPF. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB
