Buy some mouse bait boxes and fix them to parts of the car.

I had a similar issue with an old A Class. Some form of rodent managed to get inside my engine bay and chewed through a rubber grommet on the engine cover. Luckily no other damage.

I had the same problem with a VW Golf a few years ago. The mice ate the battery cover. I just baited a couple of mouse traps from Wilko under the car. A little bit of cheese or biscuit, and BANG! It worked. They did not return! |

Just had this with the wifes dog corsavan, they ate several of the fuel lines. I put rat poison cubes under the engine cover which they ate ,must have done the job as the next ones I put in were undisturbed. My next plan is to secure some bait boxes under the bonnet in case others fancy a snack.

We have a Norwegian Forest cat that takes care of this for us! He is an absolute murderer and living rural nothing is off limits for him, mice are easy and regular for him around the house and outbuildings, he likes the challenge of rabbits and pheasants and the only reason he doesn’t get them in is because they are too big for the cat flap 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Hi all, thank you very much for all the reply’s I will invest into some traps & poison for the parking space & to put under the bonnet, I’ve removed the Engine cover for the moment so they have no more insulation to eat.

Get it into a garage to find the cause. You don't want to ruin your engine. And for goodness sake do not work under the car without the proper equipment. It's a big heavy beast. Get the right gear or get to a garage, don't potentially risk your life or serious injury. |
