2 issues @ service - Rear Diff seal and throttle actuator

I just had a call from Harwoords saying there's a yellow advisory saying rear diff pinion seal rework is required (Seal Kits needs to be fitted) and a red warning for throttle actuator sticking (New throttle body and motor required). Would both of these be covered by extended warranty with Landrover or warranty Direct? My Landrover extended warranty has just ran out (and I couldn't get the car serviced before it expired due to Covid) and I now have a warranty Direct policy (all cover options ticked).

Appreciate your advice.

Hi Ben - I had my diff pinion seal replaced about a year ago - leak found at service, cleaned up and asked me to return in a month when they confirmed it needed the "known" fix kit - covered under used car 2 year warranty.

Hoping you're cover is ok with WD - should be but LR should give you cover through their warranty due to Covid delays.

Will a warranty company pay out on a claim made just a few days after buying the warranty? I thought there was often a period before a claim could be mad.

I bought the warranty a few months ago and it kicked in as soon as the Landrover one expired at the end of May.

You should be covered if coming straight out of another warranty, it’s only if you don’t have one it’s 90 days I think. You cover book should tell you cover start date.

The only problem may come from the service timing if you were beyond the service interval......hopefully they will be sympathetic Joined the X5 45e club

Hi,
You would hope the the LR extended warranty would cover it due to current situation.

A note regarding WD When we took out our warranty it followed the LR approved scheme but this did NOT count it only had no Waiting period if following the Manufactures Original warranty Porsche Cayenne 2022
gone Porsche Cayenne 2020
gone Corris Grey HSE Dynamic 2016
gone Ipanema HSE lux 2010
gone Rimini HSE 2005

Good point on the wait... I look out the WD policy in January and deferred the start date to the end the approved used one. WD suggested this so their was no lapse...

Agree shame LR wouldn't honour the warranty considering COVID-19.. Anyway Harwood's have been good to deal with and have submitted both items on a sign claim to WD for approval. Guess we will see if WD is a good to use or not, soon enough. Here's hoping!! Smile

Thanks for all the feedbacks guys.. I am pleased to confirm that Warranty Direct has agreed the claim on both issues. Booked into Harwoods Lewes in a couple of weeks to get them done.
