hi all

i,m wondering on start up i get a little blue smoke ! but only comes out the left side exhaust pipe....
... not the right side ? it only happens for a minute or so ! ..
oh yea when the blue smoke appears it slightly runs sluggish this all happens only a minute or so ??

Blue smoke means your burning oil.Poss leakey valve seals on that side of the engine.

More likely the turbo oil seal is thinking about taking a holiday...  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

which is it ?

is it going to be expensive

Whichever it is, are you going to do it yourself?

If not, take it to your trusted independent garage and I'm sure they will be able to provide you with a more accurate diagnosis and a quote. Kev

I would suggest having a look at the amount of oil present in your intercooler. Kev

i think it could well be the stem seals , as it only happens on the rear left side and only when cold , even if i ref it when cold a little blue smoke comes out that left pipe not the right side ! .....
.....and when engine completely warmed up its clear in both pipes even if i ref it heavy

well i,ve just started the rrs this morning and no smoke what so ever not even a tini bit,...
...clean as a whistle !!!!!!

i,m thinking a lazy glow plug ? as when it did smoke blue she ran rough for a few ....
... seconds ie: start up no blue smoke and all of a sudden she ran rough and then blue smoke...
... and then runs smooth and then no blue smoke clean then on wards

----When starting up a diesel engine, we need to use a glow plug to cause ignition of diesel fuel. Once the engine is warmed up, the use of the glow plug is not necessary as the heat of the engine makes ignition of diesel fuel.

If a diesel engine has a bad glow plug, it will create blue smoke at startup until it has warmed up
