Gearbox problem

Before I harangue my squealer I wondered if the forum had any input to my problem.
My gearbox has nearly forgotten that it has 6 gears.
It stays in 5th gear even at 100Kmh downhill on trailing throttle.
I can manually shift it to 6th gear but then it stays there no matter what.

All the above is great for throttle liftoff braking but not good for fuel economy !

Any thoughts ?

This may be a silly question, are you in Command shift mode (Sport) as the Auto function only works up to 5th leaving you to manually select 6th, 6th will only be engaged automatically when in full auto mode is selected

Gary is right but have you not got a transmission fault being reported on the message centre
If not then its a mechanical fault in the tranmision valve body I would have thought.
Its back to the dealer time like Doc says
Good luck. You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

Thanks lads
Yes in full auto only has 5 gears and appears to be in "lock up 5gear"
6th is available in command shift only.
Previously even in command shift the box would downshift with speed reduction...but not now.
No messages.
I suspect that my selector is not coming out of sport mode every time.
Think I will try a full cold reboot before the five hundred km trip to the dealer.

That was my next question are you getting Lock-up in 5th
As you are there can't be much wrong
It should be capable of going into 6th with the torque convertor locked
You either got a sticking valve or like you say the ECU is not detecting the stick position

Good luck Thumbs Up You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.
