Hi Guys i have just fitted a new Hitachi compressor, when i start the car it runs for about 5 seconds and stops but car is on the stops and wont raise, could it be a faulty compressor or something else.

Hi all still trying to figure out whats wrong , so i have taken the compressor of the car connected it direct to the battery and it runs fine its sucking and pushing air in and out but when on the car it runs for 5 seconds then cuts out and amber light comes on, the car is on the bumps now but took about 10 days so i am guessing its holding air reasonably OK, if i connect the pump direct to battery when on the car in order to pump the suspension up would it work or could i cause more damage.

I believe ppl have done this before

But you are playing with fire if u run the pump for more than 30 seconds at a time

Ensure all doors are closed if u do.

I assume the sensors on the cheap pump are not up to scratch

Many thanks for the reply i was wondering if i could put enough air into the system to drive to a garage if needs be or just to see if it would raise the vehicle thus eliminating the pump if the vehicle would raise, at the moment i am looking for leaks valve blocks etc but not sure if the pump would only run for a few seconds as i does if its just a leak.

Been through all of this brought the £125 only then the £175 one then then £180 from ebay all sent back and refunded without question, buy this one it works https://www.lrparts.net/lr023964-air-suspe...relay.html

Poor mechanic fitted 3 before this one worked properly.

I also have a Dunlop compressor and it's been very reliable since I installed it.

The link above is a very good price also! They are usually over £300 inc VAT. Kev
