they need to be activated in the car configuration file [ccf] ...use a capable diagnostic tool like the GAP iidtool...

You can't activate them as purely DRL's on there own in the CCF files, it has to be in conjunction with dipped headlights and rear lights. The only other way is to modify the wiring in some way I believe.

There’s been several posts where people mod the wiring in the fuse box to put the DRL lights on auto
