I like his thinking - I deal with ebay mainly as a Powerseller however have also first hand experience of their poor attitude to stolen goods being listed also.

My Story for you;

My offices were broken into 2 years ago and a lot of AV equipment taken - within 3 days, 2 bits were listed on ebay together - I contacted both ebay and the police - the police also contacted ebay - ebay just failed to reply to either myself or the police - fortunately the police fell lucky and while searching the guys previous listings found a car he had sold - a few checks later they were knocking at his door and caught him red handed - top work by the police - ebay never replied once - the guy continued to trade until he was convicted in court and only then did ebay ban his username.

As it was his first offence he got a slap on the wrist and a £300 fine - I lost more than that on the value of the goods that were returned to me - 6 MONTHS LATER!!!!! plus I had to spend over £2k on enhanced security on the office and upgrade the alarm to redcare - and people think 'the insurance covers it all' - MY ARSE!!!!

Then guess who appeared back on ebay under a different name - I contacted ebay however after weeks of emails I finally got a proper answer stating the new user, although at the same address and same surname was in fact a different person

ebay does make me a lot of money though so cant complain too much
