Anyone else having problems with there rear break shoes ?? Had ours serviced last month ( 06 HSE with 10,500 miles on the clock ) & ever since we got it back the back breaks have sounded like an old tranny van.. Been to the dealers to book it back in today & the lad out of the work shop told me theres been a few in & LR have an updated part to solve it.. Wonder if it will be a warranty job then?? |

I don't believe pads and discs are covered under warranty, but the "permanent" parts of the braking system should be - if that's where the problem lies

With 10.5k on the clock, I'd say you're being optimistic in the extreme with this one Tony. Haven't you got a mate who can quickly whip the pads off and coat the backs with high temperature copper grease? May cure it and save a fortune, worth a try! Good Luck. |

I've got a squealing park brake too. But I will leave it until it goes to be serviced next month.

This TSB (# LS206-001 here in North America) may apply, although it is very old - issued in December 2005 - and may not cover your VIN#:

Just got mine back from the dealers all sorted now & it was a warranty job too result Dealer said it was caused by a build up of dust so you were right E .. Couldn't do the hard breaking thing to clear it though as it was only happening with the hand brake & didn't really fancy pulling that on a motorway with it being an electric one now |

Actually, when I purchased the car I was instructed that the electronic parking brake can be used as an emergency brake if the main ones should ever fail. You can apparently modulate how hard you brake with the e-brake by pulling on the center console lever with more or less "gusto"... (I think it is described on the manual as "Dynamic emergency braking" or something like that) Never tried it, though. Hopefully, I will never have to, either. |

They show you how to use the EPB in an emergency in the Level 1 course (at least my instructor did, I presume they follow a set curriculum wherever you take it)... only for use in emergencies though.

Me too Envoy. Slam it in park and walk away. The EPB is hard work, occasional use only to prevent seizure! Lazy bast ards of the world unite!!!! |
