Turbo oil drain mod

Well I’m booked in this coming Friday to have the shorter secondary turbo oil drain pipe mod fitted. Excessive and I mean EXCESSIVE blue smoke whenever the second turbo kicks in @2800rpm. Few mins after easing off the gas no smoke.
No smoke on morning startup, normal town or motorway driving. Only on kickdown or flooring the loud pedal.
Job will be fit the modification kit and flush the inter cooler of oil and associated other places. Cost is the kit plus 3 hrs labour.

Anyone else had there’s done ?

Had this done some time ago, and have to say performance was improved, and the engine appears to run smoother.

Well the Sport was dropped off at the workshop 8am - they reckon 3hrs for this job but Ive asked them to investigate some knocks and squeaks on the suspension while they have it.
Hopefully get a call to collect around or just after lunchtime.

Good news and bad news, good news is I’m now smoke free, bad news is my front anti roll bar bushes are shot, the back aren’t too good and some pipe has a slight leak at the back so I’ve to keep an eye on the fluid level, if the pipe goes pop it’s a body off job to replace , damn these cars can be expensive.
Plus I was getting a low battery on smart key error, the garage replaced the battery for me today and no errors when I collected the car. Stopped at the supermarket on the drive home and low battery on smart key again aaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhh.

That'll be your hydraulic lines which carry the fluid to the hydraulic anti-roll bar which is part of the dynamic response system.

When replacing the rear ARB, I don't think it's a full body off job, just a body lift.

Front ARB bushes should be around 1.5 -2 hours labour. Parts are only about £35 for a pair of genuine bushes. Kev

The key fob batteries (CR3032? check your handbook) are easy to change and are only a couple of quid for a pair. I'm sure I had the "smart key not found" on the dash when my main battery was dying. It may be that the car was left with a door open and the interior light has drained it. A good run may do the job (or put it on a Ctek) or a new battery may be required.

Low Battery On Smart Key has disappeared. It was partly my fault. As a safeguard when the car was in the workshop I carried the spare key in my laptop bag. I had left this in the car and the car had picked up its signal before the key with the new battery.
Cant decide whether to get the front ARB bushes done now or wait another few weeks. Next MOT is June and as I usually change cars every 6 months ( I view it as an expensive hobby ) do I want to keep throwing money at a car Im going to let go ?
Rear ARB bushes I would leave until as near the next MOT as possible if I still have the RRS.
I cant however get the thought of the rear pipe going and the associated costs - from what Ive researched £4k-£5k or am I looking at the wrong thing ? This would be a huge worry for me and would render my immaculate 2010 car worth parts value only. I cant afford nor would I throw £4k at a car repair, even if I could afford to.

Please ease my now constant paranoia.

What happened with this in the end in respect of your rear pipe leak???

Sounds a hefty cost!

I haven’t lost any fluid since, well a teaspoon worth at the very most. I can live with that.

Is it easy to spot or does it need to be up in the air on a ramp?? Was looking for a buyers guide/test drive guide on here but haven’t come across one yet so just picking up points here and there from others postings.

I didnt even know I had a ( suspected ) leak. I asked the garage to check the squeaking noise from the suspension whilst they had the car on the ramps. It sounded like a rusty old Silver Cross pram.

The came back and reported the following :
Front anti roll bar bushes needed replaced - quoted around £350
Rear anti roll bar bushes needed replaced - quoted around £180
Leaking rear active anti roll bar pipe - no quote but told body off job ££££££
Was told it will pop at some point due to high pressures, kinda impending doom type thing.

I got the front anti roll bushes replaced for £160 they had about quarter inch play, totally shot, but passed an MOT at the used car dealer 4 weeks previously ha ha ???
I havent bothered with the rears, 2nd opinion said they were fine - car has ZERO squeaks.
Have kept an eye on the fluid levels that work the active anti roll bars - as said lost a teappoon at most since then, might even have just been where \ how the car was sitting at that point.

Are you able to cut out a section of the pipe & replace it using compression fittings

Ive seen a guy doing compression fittings on YouTube - I dont know how more people dont have this done. Is it they dont want this form of repair ? is it the garage refusing to do this type of repair ?

Id be more than happy with it and happily save probably a few grand at the same time.
Maybe a lot of garages would rather charge 2 days labour than a n hour or two to do a compression fitting fix.

Probably because the garage doesn't tell people about it or they don't know about it. Nowadays they don't repair cars, they replace parts. If there is not a part number they cant fix it. Compression fittings are a tried & tested engineering solution. Why lift a body if its easily accessible to cut it back to good metal & insert a new piece. Probably less than an hours work.
