England 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Santorini Black
Idle

Today is the hottest on record and when I started my car, which had stood in the sun for some hours, the engine idle was 1100 instead of 900 rpm.

When I restarted the engine after a short stop at the bank, idle had returned to a steady 900.

My question is whether the high idle speed is normal in those conditions? RRS (MY13) Santorini Black SDV6 HSE luxuary

Mine has done the same and I think it’’s the Air con. It was 36 C when it happened.

Just been out and started it and it’s idling at 1100.

I’m a bit doubtful that the a/c accounted for it because I never turn the a/c off yet the idle returned to normal after restarting a hot engine.
I thought it might have had something to do with today’s extreme temperature. RRS (MY13) Santorini Black SDV6 HSE luxuary

My S/C seems to do that and fluctuates at times, just put it down to Air Con and ambient air temp high. Normal idle is less than 900 though, but being petrol may be different.

Cheers

Mine doesn’t normally do it with ac on but when it did it the other day I turned it off to check and it returned to normal idle. So with no fault found I turned it back on again. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

to get the required pressure in the a/c system (due to high demand), it will increase idle
