I would think the battery would be your first option,,, 14V plus showing at tickover sounds like a healthy alternator,,, 10V at battery looks as if it has completely failed on a few cells. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Had a very similar experience recently to what you are saying you're having. Mine required a new instrument cluster however I would definitely try a replacement battery as a starting point. |

Good to hear it looks to have been resolved quickly and cheaply. Fingers crossed you have no more issues. |

Failed after 18 months,,, I know there is an optimum working temperature but I would have thought it should last a bit longer, a lot of manufacturers offer 3 or 4 guarantees now,, even with the cheaper units. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I'm not surprised at all with those temperatures. While cold weather takes it's toll on the output of a battery, hot temperatures kills them sooner. Edit - after posting the above I thought I'd do a quick google for info to back that up, and below is a copy/paste of a google headline The optimum operating temperature for the lead-acid battery is 25°C (77°F). As a guideline, every 8°C (15°F) rise in temperature will cut the battery life in half. VRLA, which would last for 10 years at 25°C (77°F), will only be good for 5 years if operated at 33°C (95°F). 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine 14MY Range Rover Evoque Dynamic SD4 Black Pack - wife's 99MY Defender 90 TD5, Soft Top Conversion - my toy, and bairns favourite |
