After a spirited drive back from the NEC caravan show at the weekend I was happily tracking a DB7 up Birdlip Hill (for those who do not know it, it's a steepish climb on the A417 off the M5, with a roundabout 3/4 the way up it, and another duel carriageway on to the top). and we were bowling along pretty well when i got a engine fault bong

So backed off.... but it didn't clear and the engine was low on power so I stopped in a layby.... turned it off, checked under the bonnet for a burst pipe or anything obvious..nothing... so re-started and it was fine again.... drove rest of way home with no more issues.

Checked the code today (it's been fine since) and the code is P132E which looks like it may be a sticky actuator rod?

Anyone on here had this on theirs? RRS gone

yup, my indie put in on a ramp, and sprayed silicone grease onto both of them, its not done it since 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater )))

There is a modified rod and bolt available. It would be worth freeing it off first, and if its OK, have the new rod fitted.

The new bolt is stainless, and doesn't corrode, so won't seize up

Well it finally did it again on Saturday. (P132E error recorded, I'm assuming the "E" refers to which turbo it is?)

Pulling hard up a hill with my twin axle Bessacarr in tow... engine fault and reduced power.... had to pull over and turn the engine off and on again (luckly just 1/2 a mile from a junction) ... instantly fine again.

Have rung garage for advice on what they'd recommend... new actuator kit or just a grease up.



Power delivery has become less eager and slightly lumpy/surgy lately, so I'm assuming all the same issue?


Mikey, is this a turbo out job? or can the kit be fitted in situ RRS gone

Both can be done with turbo's in situ

R/H one is easier, L/H one is pretty fiddly, as the diff is in the way.

Or, spray with penetrating oil, and work the rod up and down until it frees off

Hi Mikey , My RRS tdv8 as been standing for a month , and had the p132 code come up . one day >> the next day took it for a good blast , and all gone , do i need to upgrade the actuator rods ?

Ideally, yes.

But, if it were me, I would spray it with some lube, make sure they are both moving freely

Hi have the same problem and the same fault.
To spray it with some lube, is that the cure?
Or could it be that something else is the problem?

Went to the dealer in jena germany
They did not even see the car and told us the turbo needs to be replaced.
They could not lubricate the rods, as this is not according the regulations and instructions of landrover.
New turbo eur 1500. They also said that 8% of the tdv8 have this problem. So i said this is a construction fault so landrover will give some compensation? Yes they said they will probalby pay 80% but then you need to go to the dealer who deliverd the car new.
Never heard something so stupid.
Anyway will see a local indian and ask him to lubricate the rods.
Is this difficult to do, or do you need to remover parts?

Would an MY2010 TDV8 have the modified rod and bolt already fitted or did LR never update them? I don't have a problem but I am keen to avoid one.

Mine is an '05 tdv6 , how do you access the actuator rod?, taken off the heatshields, looked from top and underneath, can just see one end !
