Because the reality is that there aren't huge numbers of engines failing. We hear about them in the forum because people come here to discuss and moan about problems. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Fair enough, not had an engine go before, luckily it’s covered by Warranty |

Sorry to hear of this. It's been going on for years with this engine. Even back when it was in it's original form of the 2.7

I'll find out more when the repair is complete, sounded like a bag of spanners |

Update; replacement engine now fitted (had to wait about 3 weeks for parts). I couldn’t get an answer to what the failure was, the engine is sent back to LR for ‘analysis’

Just had exactly the same happen to my 2018 HSE. Metal in the oil. Engine seized. OUt of warranty so am awaiting news on whether JLR will make a goodwill gesture for the £18k worth or parts and labour required. |

Back when I had a Td5 Disco, the engine went, oil sump issue, which was a known fault.

As one or two have mentioned, you seem to hear a lot of times when the 3ltr V6 engine let's go but in reality apparently it's not so common. I once asked the guys who service mine about this while I was waiting. These only service the landrover brand and really know their stuff,, and I was suprised when he said they had never come across a failed 3l V6. Apparently more common was the 2.7,, people not bothering with services or even keeping the oil topped up. 2010 RRS, TDV8
