My 2012 does the same and there is a Land Rover Technical Bulletin that suggest a mod to the crankcase breather on certain vehicles with VIN’s between AA212145-DA814376 years 2010 - 2012.

Black smoke is a boost leak, or too much fuel

Hi, thanks for the prompt replies, my Vin falls outside of the suggested group but I will certainly look at the bulletin. I have checked the hose it looks OK. Would a split hose not cause black smoke every time you accelerate mine has only done it once. I was curious about the readings as a learning process in understanding my car more.

I had black smoke under acceleration and it was that hose/downpipe that was split. Check underneath the hose near the top as mine had split there and wasn't obviously visible. |

I was suffering this on my 2.7v6, fitted an EGR blanking kit and no smoke, for £20ish it was a cheap and relatively quick and easy fix.
